Apex — Privacy Policy

Last updated 9 September 2026

Apex is a garage and track-day logbook. It has a free allowance and an optional one-time Apex Unlimited purchase, has no Apex account, and keeps your data on your device. This policy describes exactly what does and does not leave your phone.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter, and everything the app records:

None of it is uploaded. There is no Apex account and no cloud sync. Backups and CSV exports produce files you control and choose where to put.

What leaves your device

The following optional services make network requests.

1. A vehicle registration you type. If you use the UK vehicle lookup, the registration is sent to our lookup service, which fetches official DVSA and DVLA vehicle data and returns it. The registration identifies the vehicle. Apex does not attach an account or installation identifier to the lookup. The service caches the vehicle response for up to six hours to reduce calls to the government APIs; it is not an anonymous or de-identified lookup.

2. The area of the map you are viewing. iOS maps use Apple MapKit; Android maps use Google Maps. The map provider receives map requests to display the area you view. Apex does not upload recorded lap traces to its lookup service. Google Maps also processes request and device metadata, crash information, IP addresses, a pseudonymous SDK identifier and map interactions to operate and improve its services.

3. Optional parts-price searches. When enabled, the part name or number you submit is sent through our service to eBay to retrieve listings. This is separate from your private garage and lap records. Links you choose to open are handled by their destination websites.

Your lap-timing GPS is never transmitted. Location is used on the device to time laps and is written only to your own logbook.

Purchases and restores

Apex is free to download with one car and one calendar track day. Apex Unlimited is an optional one-time in-app purchase that unlocks unlimited cars and track days. Apple or Google processes payment and restoration; Apex receives signed purchase status to verify access locally. Apex does not receive card or bank details and does not send purchase tokens to the Apex lookup service. Purchase records may be retained by the store under its own privacy policy.

Permissions

Children

Apex is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If what leaves the device ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date above is updated.
